Why we're calling on Denise
In our members' view, the management company was brought on and kept on without the diligence residents would expect, despite a poor public reputation and a long trail of negative reviews that were there for anyone to check.
Residents also describe fines and assessments they consider unwarranted. We believe a treasurer's job is to protect homeowners from that pressure — not to pass it along.
Residents also remember that trash collection was one of the few services actually included in the roughly $90-a-month dues. When the city took over trash service, that expense left the association's books — and, residents note, the dues did not go down.
Our ask is simple: commit — publicly and in writing — to changing the association's enforcement practices and policies. Or resign, so that someone more focused on privacy, community, basic decency, and the cost of living can serve instead.

As treasurer, Ms. Steffenhagen brought on and kept a management company that, in my opinion, was never properly vetted — a company with hundreds of negative reviews and one-star ratings online for anyone to see. And when that company pushed to keep fining and assessing residents in ways I believe were unwarranted, I did not see her stand up for us. I saw her go along with it.— Waterglen resident
